- Silver Jason Niblett
- Bronze Azizulhasni Awang
Spain’s Juan Peralta Gascon was relegated to 6th after causing a major pile up on the final bend. All riders except Chris Hoy who had charged round the final two hundred metres were brought down. Jayco’s Jason Niblett managed 2nd place & Malaysia’s Awang, the current World Cup Leader, realising there was still a medal & a Championship to win dashed across the line & collapsed to the floor. It became evident that Awang have picked up a severe injury in the way of an 8” splinter clean through his right hand leg. Taken to hospital immediately, a successful operation to remove the splinter was performed the following day. Luckily there was no major damage done, but a disappointed Awang will not be fit to ride the World Track Championships in Holland.
