Saint Piran Pro Cycling launched into orbit around the Grasscrete Ryedale Grand Prix circuit taking all five top places, but it was Millie Couzens [Fenix-Decueninck] whom touched down firstly in the Women\u2019s National Series.<\/p>\n

A bunch sprint up-to the finish line in the Women\u2019s event at Ampleforth Abbey saw Couzens ahead of Tiffany Keep [Hutchinson-Brother], with Mary Wilkinson [Team Boompods] and last years winner Abi Smith [EF Education \u2013 TIBCO-SVB].<\/p>\n

First six man break<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
A six man break from the get-go [Sebastian Garry, James Bevan, Michael Gibb, Guy Drabble, Damien Clayton & Josh Whitehead??] in the Men\u2019s event was the only time that Saint Piran PC didn\u2019t represent the front of the race.<\/p>\n

Leading Trio<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
This changed quickly by the mid-point on the first lap with Series Leader Zeb Kyffin escaping with two accomplices, Rob Scott and Damien Clayton once more.<\/p>\n

Chasing group<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Although the leaders changed in numbers several times as the race unfolded, Kyffin found himself at the pointy end for almost the entire hundred miles to finish second.<\/p>\n

Leading Bunch<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Joined by team-mates Adam Lewis and Harry Birchall. It was Birchall that had the legs to claim his first National Race win with Finn Crockett taking fourth and Bradley Symonds fifth.<\/p>\n

The Women\u2019s race earlier in the day saw a few attacks, more notably Bexy Dew [Pro-Nocts] and Dani Shrosbury [DAS-Handsling] gaining over half-a-minute at one point.<\/p>\n

As the race unfolded and the final lap approached a group of around ten formed with Ella Jamison [LIV Cycling Club] attacking out of the Abbey Grounds.<\/p>\n

Next to try and breakaway was Wilson on the climb, but others had ideas.<\/p>\n

In the end, the race was won by the strongest legs of the day with Couzens taking the uphill gallop, Keep second, Wilkinson third, Abi Smith fourth and Lucy Lee [DAS-Handsling] rounding out the top five.<\/p>\n

Series leader Monica Greenwood finished a respectable fourteenth to hold the Jersey.<\/p>\n

On the final lap there was a group of around nine or ten. How did that come about?<\/p>\n
Just after going over the top (out of Ampleforth Abbey Grounds) it all split said Millie. We just rolled through.<\/p>\n
Did you go first on the run in to the finish line?<\/p>\n
On the final lap Mary went first. I was just hanging to her wheel until as late a possible. I got around her.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Five of you (Saint Piran Procycling) on the front. Are the races easy?<\/p>\n
No, it wasn\u2019t easy said Harry.<\/p>\n
Compared to races abroad, has was this race?<\/p>\n
No, this is different. It\u2019s a hard day out. The races abroad are 1.1 (UCI). There\u2019s some big names in there. It\u2019s all controlled by proper Teams \u2013 World Tour.
\nYou were all attacking each other. Why?<\/p>\n
We were trying to make the race interesting. It was just left to us to race it out.<\/p>\n
Have you won a National race before?<\/p>\n
No \u2013 It\u2019s my first one. It\u2019s amazing Harry said, going on to say, especially here. It\u2019s a tough course \u2013 I\u2019m buzzing, really happy.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s the Tour of Britain in two weeks. It\u2019s been a big goal of mine. It\u2019s my first year on the road, I\u2019m still learning.<\/p>\n
How tough has the Grasscrete Ryedale GP compared to the other Nationals in the Series?<\/p>\n
I think it\u2019s probably the hardest. The climbs are really grippy. They are all hard, but this is probably the hardest.<\/p>\n
