Durrell claims her 3rd National Series Race Victory on the Riverside in the 9th Stockton-on-Tees Velo29 Stockton Grand Prix whilst an audacious solo attack by Archibald held his pace sufficiently to take the win with Six seconds to spare.<\/h3>\n

Traditionally a sprinters race – This year was no different for the Women\u2019s round 6 of the HSBC-UK British Cycling National Road Series with Series Leader Rebecca Durrell \u2013 Brother UK Tifosi p\/b OnForm winning her 3rd race of the year so far.<\/p>\n

Covering 70-miles, the Women made their way onto the main out of town course that saw a number of small attacks not stick.<\/p>\n

Returning for the final 4 Riverside Circuits the Peloton held a good pace that didn\u2019t offer any chances for anyone to really escape.<\/p>\n

Becks Durrell & team-mate Anna Henderson, Gaby Shaw & Jessica Finney kept the tempo high into the final lap and turning the final corner for the bunch kick, it was Durrell that found herself in a favourable position to sprint for the line, fending off the last weeks race winner at the Curlew Cup Elizabeth Bennett \u2013 Campinense Velo Performance and Fiona Turnbull \u2013 Slingshot.<\/p>\n

After the race Rebecca said:<\/strong> \u201cA really good day for us today. We went in with a bit of a different plan \u2013 more attacking \u2013 and I think it paid off. It gave us more options during the race. So yeh! It\u2019s always a good day when you come away with the win.<\/p>\n

Hopefully we have won the sprints competition as well with Charmaine Porter. That was another objective in the race \u2013 to try & practice our lead-out skill for upcoming UCI Races we have got. So all-in-all a good day.<\/p>\n

In that last lap we were both actually feeling good (Anna Henderson & myself).<\/p>\n

When it comes to sprints we have got both of us as an option. It was actually my intention coming down the (penultimate) straight. I got on the front \u2013 I thought I would lead Anna out this time – I try & take it in turns \u2013 but unfortunately there was a bit of a blockage on that last corner. Anna had to go early on & I just got the benefit of the slip stream. Other girls were coming alongside Anna so I just went for it & got it on the line\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In the men\u2019s event<\/strong>. The 110-mile race saw a 19 man break form early on before finally settling down to 10 riders over the early out of town laps including series leader Matt Holmes \u2013 Madison Genesis.<\/p>\n

Not content with the pace, Ribble Pro Cycling\u2019s John Archibald set about a solo break and with no reaction from his fellow escapees Archibald built a healthy 2.5 min gap on the chasers & over 4.25 minuets on the peloton.<\/p>\n

Holding off the marauding pack back on the Riverside Circuit, the remaining chasers were absorbed back into the peloton before they started clawing back the deficit metre-by-metre – but to no avail.<\/p>\n

Archibald rode an epic 50-mile solo victory giving it everything he had right up to the line – holding on to his lead by a mere 5.6 seconds with Matt Bostock \u2013 Canyon dhb p\/b Bloor Homes 2nd & Tom Pidcock \u2013 Team Wiggins Le Col 3rd.<\/p>\n
