Wright On-Time As Torelli Triumphs At The Tour Of The Reservoir<\/h3>\n

Sophie Wright \u2013 Torelli-Brother-Assure Team timed her attack to perfection to win the second stage of a gruelling hot Northumbrian Water Alexandra Tour of the Reservoir, her first ever Elite National Road win, a clear 10s ahead over last year\u2019s overall winner Mel Lowther \u2013 Storey Racing. With the Pink Leaders Jersey wearer from stage one Dame Sarah Storey \u2013 Storey Racing isolated in the chasing group 2 minutes behind, Wright also took the overall GC to become this year\u2019s winner.<\/p>\n

Along with today\u2019s victory, Wright also don\u2019s the HSBC-UK Women\u2019s Road Series Leaders Jersey, three points ahead of Nikki Juniper going into round 4, Otley Grand Prix on July 4th. The Jersey has passed hands three times in as many races & Wright isn\u2019t expected to defend her title at Otley.<\/p>\n

Finishing 5th in the bunch kick to the line on the 1st day, Wright executed a predetermined plan of action to perfection as she explained after the race Saying<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was the hardest finish I have ever done \u2013 but it was worth it\u201d. \u201cI\u2019m pretty confident with a Hill Finish, but I though there are some pretty good Sprinters in the bunch. I did get pipped yesterday to get 5th, so I kind of thought I\u2019m just going to have to go earlier. There\u2019s a hill, a kick-up at the Feed Zone \u2013 I just thought do or die \u2013 just commit & drive it over the front\u201d. Going on to say \u201cI noticed when I was going around I was quite good at descending in the group so I thought if I just smash-it down the descent as well it will open up a gap\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nJenny Holden \u2013 Fusion RT Veloperformance & Illi Gardner \u2013 YRDP attacked on the bottom slopes with Eleanor Dickenson, Rhona Callander \u2013 Team Breeze, Ellen McDermott \u2013 Boompods EDCO NRG joined them. Ruth Summerford \u2013 trainSharp Club came across and the peloton were 22s adrift.<\/p>\n
