An early seven-man break formed through heavy early showers as the one-hundred-and-sixty-five-kilometre race got underway in a newly scheduled Lincoln Grand Prix that closes the 2017 HSBC-UK Spring Cup Series.<\/p>\n

Several large groups formed in the chase with Ryan Perry [Team Raleigh GAC] and Luke Ryan [Richardsons-Trek RT] stuck in no mans land ten-seconds down behind the leaders, desperately trying to join the party.<\/p>\n

Several laps went by before they were absorbed back into the main chase-group as their lead extended over three minutes.
\nAs the pace continued for the leaders, Stedman cracked firstly, then three more fell away leaving Evans, Williams and Lampier at the head of the race.<\/p>\n
In the final few laps the leading trio were reeled by the furious pace set by Madison Genesis.<\/p>\n

Six more escaped including Lampier once more as he tried to make a solo effort stick.<\/p>\n

HSBC-BC Spring Cup 2017 | Lincoln GP, Jack Puller [L] & Matt Holmes [R]<\/figcaption><\/figure>The final lap saw drama on the finish line as a traffic management van came close to knocking the gantry over. With a little help from by-standers as the riders started their ascend of Michaelgate for the final time, the gantry was lifted and as the van sped around the corner, Bibby appeared just ahead of Townsend, shortly followed by Matt Holmes and Jonny McEvoy of Madison Genesis.<\/p>\n
Series leader Enrique Sanz [Team Raleigh GAC] finished ninth on the day but Townsend\u2019s second place put him in top position for the Series Lead ahead of Bibby pushing Sanz into third overall.<\/p>\n
