Now in it’s 8th Season. This very popular indoor event has risen in popularity in the past couple of years, to the tune of maximum capacity crowds, around 3000+ who regularly attend. The Event gives our up & coming younger cyclists, a chance to ride with, or against the cream of British Cycling. Top Athletes like Sir Chris Hoy MBE & Victoria Pendleton MBE participate in some of the Events that usually target certain styles of racing. Season 8 kicks of with some of out best male Sprinters. Indeed, Sir Chris Hoy MBE, leads the honours list, having dropped out of the British Track National Championships last month due to illness, is back at full strength, before going forward to the European Track Championships & 1st selection of the Olympic qualifying rounds in Poland on the 26th Oct. Other Sprinters lined up include New National Track Sprint Champion Jason Kenny along with Ross Edgar & Matt Crampton & David Daniell.

The Revolution has seen change in recent times, and last Season we saw 8 Teams of riders compete against each other, rather than the old style, Britain Vs the Rest of the World. Each Team is made up of the Captain (Elite Athlete), Sprinters, Endurance cyclists & (DHL) Future Stars. Competing against each other over all track cycling disciplines, they will be collecting points Event by Event, and the highest points collected by the whole Team wins the Championship. There is also a Future Star’s Jersey for the highest Youngsters Boy & Girl point’s earner, and this encourages them to participate and gain experience at the highest level.

Chris Newton 2010 – Rapha Condor Sharp

This Season changes slightly in the fact that more Trade Teams have become involved. We still have the eight teams competing, but this will see Rapha Condor Sharp, Team Sky, Motorpoint – Marshalls Pasta & Maxgear all take to the boards under their own name. Revolution 29 also pays homage to Multi Olympic Champion Chris Newton who has retired from competitive cycling. But as a regular & highly decorated Track Star He is riding his last Race, the 6Km motor Pace Scratch Race. The evening also gives the public a chance of seeing what might have happened at the recent Commonwealth Game is they had attended, and that’s England Vs Scotland Team Sprint.

If you have never been to a Track Cycling Event you will have another 3 chances to buy reasonably priced tickets for Revolution 30, 31 & 32. They are on November 20th, December 11th & January 15 2011. But I’m sure it won’t belong before they too will be gone.
