UCI Track World Cup Classic – London Feb 2012
Author: Chris Maher. Pictures: Chris Maher | Photography
Round 4 of the #twc2012 UCI Track World Cup Classics, brings the Worlds best Elite Athletes back to the UK. February 17th to 19th will see London hosting its first international track event. An opportunity for the athletes and public alike, to get a feel of what it will be like, when the Olympic Games returns later on in the year. It is an official dress rehearsal for London 2012, and every aspect of the event will be put to the test.
It’s also the last event before the UCI 2012 Track World Championships that takes place in Melbourne, Australia in April. Then London 2012 in July.

|
The UCI TWC Round 4 2012 in the new Olympic Velodrome at London, provided 8 medals for Team GB... 5 Golds, 1 Silver & 2 Bronze.
Two World Records were also set, one by our Women’s Team Pursuiters and the other by our Women’s Team Sprinters.
The venue has proven to give good cycling conditions and great atmosphere with a full capacity audience. Our athletes will now hone their training in preparation for the World Championships, then the Olympics. One of the highlights of the event was Laura Trott entertaining us in the Omnium Elimination Race. Hovering in the relegation place more often than we thought possible, she went on to win the race & a Bronze medal overall. Team GB medaled in most of the events they entered, and this will provide positive feedback & encouragement going forward. Bring on the Games!
