  • Friday Session

On these pages you will find the results from all the sessions, of the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships 2009. Held in Manchester’s National Velodrome, the heart of British Cycling. It is situated in the middle of our Country & has a capacity of around 3000 spectators. It is regularly full to capacity of around 3000 spectators. Britain has excelled in the sport of cycling over the past decade, eUCI ParaCycling Track World Manchesterspecially Track Cycling, and has many top athletes both men & women competing in many of the disciplines.

I had the chance to photograph the event for TrackCycling from the beginning to the end. You will find my pictures, galleries, stories & links to other related web sites from here. This was my first encounter with disabled athletes, and I was truly amazed by the grit & determination of every individual who took part. There were many World Records set over the 3 days, And some fantastic racing as well. Britain faired very well & participated in most of the events. On a lighter note I was entertained by the comic dismounts of some of the cyclists, who seem to get it completely wrong and end up on the floor more often than the average Track Cyclist.

All Photo’s by Chris Maher - TrackCycling - for Guy Swarbrick.
