Preview Highlights
The first major World event in the Olympic Velodrome since London 2012.
Australia currently lead the medal board with Great Britain equal second along with Germany.
Australia’s Anna Meares returns to the place she became Women’s Olympic Sprint Champion. Although no silver medalist from London 2012 (Victoria Pendleton), Britain’s Jess Varnish (British Champion)gets to step-up to the mark. Current World Cup leader China’s Shuang Gou (bronze at London 2012) will be out to spoil the party. Germanys Kristina Vogel will be the one to beat.
Jason Kenny won the Olympic Sprint Gold last time around, but World Champion Francois Pervis will be the focus for the Sprint Events. Pervis was recently beaten by on-form Maximilian Levy (Germany).
Women’s Omnium Olympic Champion Laura Trott will go up against Sarah Hammer (USA) (Silver in London 2012). Current World Cup leader and on-form Jolien O’Hoore (Belgium) will be the one to beat.
Great Britain’s Women’s Team Pursuit will be out to please the home crowd. Winning round one in Mexico, the line-up could include any of the above named athletes.
